Managing a changing team
Two years since it's launch, NEOS has grown from a team of 10, to 65 employees in 2020. To keep up with the rapid growth and the pace at which they were onboarding new employees, they needed a way to deliver the NEOS experience as fast as possible. With Heelix, they were able to cut through the hierarchies or bureaucracies that might be experienced elsewhere, by reinforcing their vision, strategy and recognising great achievements.
Earlier in the year NEOS launched the '31 practices' as guidelines for employees to do something new every day and challenge themselves to continue to grow. Heelix has been an invaluable tool in this process as it has allowed the organisation to reinforce the importance of these practices and successfully embed them across four states in Australia.
For the Leadership team, Heelix has helped to support the strategy and continue to drive the NEOS experience, which in turn has allowed them to maintain a high performing culture and engaged staff through the COVID-19 pandemic. The insights have been particularly helpful for managers to identify low engagement trends and work through them openly with their teams.
The collaborative space has allowed everyone to remain connected no matter where they've been and focused on the things that matter most to maintain the best productivity outcomes.
Connection and relationships
NEOS are focused on treating their people as part of a high performing team. And a key way of doing this is ensuring the team is connected around the things that matter. As Martin says, when you do that, you get the right result.
The team uses shoutouts to recognise people for doing a great job and has dedicated Spaces that helps them discuss internal initiatives. With people in Western Australia, Victoria, Queensland and New South Wales, Heelix provides a central hub for teams to stay connected with one another. That's been particularly powerful in the COVID-19 crisis where things could have petered out, but by using Heelix, the team can reinforce the NEOS experience which is what makes them who they are.
